On October 24th, Xi Wang and Hazel Thun from the Dutch sprouting company Evers Specials, organized a mungbean quality workshop to interested farmers and exporters in the Yangon Delta. During the (very-well attended) workshop, Evers Specials explained about the mungbean sprouting processes at their company and elaborated on the importance of a good raw product to end up with an excellent sellable product. Evers Specials explained about their search into factors that might influence the quality of the raw product (bean varieties, cultivation mechanisms) and inspired the farmers to experiment with new production techniques. Farmers were particularly interested in the hand-held sowing machine, which enables to cultivate beans in neat rows (hence also rendering easier the weeding/fertilizing/harvesting process) in a fast fashion.
